They might be receptive to another company purchasing the publishing license but I don't know if that would include a license to develop a new version of the game (which might still be held by Obsidian) or just to publish the existing NWN2 Platinum. They clearly have no interest in reviving the Steam storefront for the game meaning that whatever effort or cost that would require of them isn't worth whatever sales they would expect to make off of NWN2 Platinum being on Steam. In all likelihood NWN2 has been completely forgotten by its owner, Atari. In 2015 Atari started a turnaround strategy focused on re-releasing Atari's catalog of games, focusing most heavily on its most traditional franchises and most popular properties (things like Roller Coaster Tycoon and Lunar Lander). NWN2 was not part of that sale, possibly because no one was interested in buying it. Throughout 2013 and continuing through 2018 Atari sold off a large portion of its portfolio to various other companies. Obviously no one here is privy to exactly what happened but I would suspect that Steam removed NWN2 for Atari's failure to pay something in regards to hosting it. NWN2 was removed from Steam in 2013 a couple months after Atari declared bankruptcy. It will probably never return to Steam because of licensing issues with Atari, who owns the license to publish NWN2. If you bought it before it was removed you can still download and play it. Enhanced edition in work? NWN2 is (or well, was) on steam. Originally posted by lnzx loot.farm tradeit.gg:Will it be on steam and why it isnt. People have to improve the arguments, and stop writing nonsense. Since the first game was from bioware, if it were so it wouldn't have come out on the beamdog. It is not like doing something from scratch.įinally, the law of trailers does not stick. I believe that they are not very interested in this at least for now, as it is not so difficult to "remaster" the 2, since it is younger and does not need as much polish as the 1.Īs we all know the work of remaster, even more "basic" as beamdog has done, at least at launch, is very economical for them, as it does not require much change in the game. People forget that the rights to neverwinter 2 as a D&D work belong to the wizard of the coast, and then perhaps the obisidian has some right to the game.Įven so, I believe that if the beamdog wants to do it, they would, or would have done it already. For Low Light vision it is unchanged, and limited to elves and half-elves anyway.Guys, talk a lot about obisidian when talking about nwn 2. You can try out these changes the included demo module, there are torches and a helmet with the Darkvision ability so you can try with a human PC. Note: Light sources near creatures will blind dwarves and elves from this vision, just as it always has, so keep this in mind if you're playing a human in a party of demi-humans. I have left Low Lght vision unchanged from default, as my elves follow the contemporary PHB, while niv's changes are to simulate infravision.ĭwarves are the same as in niv's version, with the light made slightly bluish to simulate the way darkvision works in black and white. This simulates stumbling around in the dark. But you can always grab a torch or use magic. Īs you can see in the screenshots, my human "blind" vision is much smaller and fainter than the default. Niv changed Low Light (reddish), Dark Visions (bluish to simulate grayscale), and human. Thanks a TON for bringing this to my attention, niv! Niv has no restrictions on his file, as it is a simple modification to a default NWN packaged file, and so my hak is also freely modifiable and distributable. This is a work derived from niv's vision override file for "fx_light_clr.mdl", which controls how the different PC races can see in the dark. Also to enhance a human's appreciation for lighting, especially in the Underdark. I kinda need that difficulty for storytelling purposes. Human's are, by default, allowed to see exceptionally well in utter darkness because during playtesting players complained about having to deal with not being able to see in the dark. My initial module will be dwarf-dentric, so dwarves don't need torches, etc, but in case I get multiplayer working this will shape how people play the module. I needed to make some changes to more accurately reflect how human's see in the dark for more realistic gameplay in a module I'm making.
